Kriblok retaining walls
Kriblok Retaining Walls comprise of reinforced precast concrete components specially designed to interlock with each other, the kriblok gravity wall retaining system enables the rapid construction of stable, attractive earth retention schemes without the need for mortar or special fixings.
Kriblok retaining walls are available in a range of component sizes, to ensure cost effective solutions for a wide range of situations. Each range consists of only two basic components, a header unit and a stretcher unit, with header units available in a choice of length. This together with the fact that the Kriblok system can be erected to form concave or convex radii as well as internal or external corners using standard components, simplifies both design and specification procedures.
Ease of construction of a kriblok retaining wall
On site Kriblok units are simply assembled to create a series of interlocking cribs which are then filled with granular free drainage material to provide a high performing gravity wall structure. We offer design, supply only, and supply and install.
Kriblok retaining wall design
By analysing your requirements and site conditions, we are able to recommend the most cost effective Kriblok solution for your project. We need to know:
- The length and height of the wall(s)
- Soil Investigation report.
- Drawing plans or photos we can look at.
- Specific loads on the top of the wall.
- What is the higher ground going to be used for?
- Postcode for the project.

Kriblok retaining walls – product specification
Concrete crib or Kriblok retaining walls are a modular retaining wall system which can retain earth or soils to heights of up to 10m.
Individual Kriblok components are steel reinforced and manufactured to the following standards:
- Cement: OPC BS EN 197 – 1 : 2000
- Aggregates: BS EN 12620: 2002
- Concrete Mix Design: BS EN 206 – 1 Grade C50
- Durability: Very severe exposure
- Sulphate Resistance: Class 2, table 7: BS EN206
- Minimum Cement Content: 370kg.m3
- Maximum Aggregate Size: 10mm
- Steel Reinforcement: To BS5400 : Part 4 : 1990
Kriblok wall delivery
Kriblok components are delivered palletised for ease of off-loading and site distribution.
Delivery is normally in 25 tonne loads on articulated lorries, and any local restrictions with regard to lorry size should be made known at the time of placing the order.
Dimensional tolerances
Dimensional tolerances for Kriblok retaining walls are based on the guidance given by BS EN 1992 – 1 – 1 – 2004, but because of the complex shape we have developed our own system of measurement for the three major axes.
Any special requirements concerning dimensions should be made known by the Engineer at the pre-contract stage and accompanied by drawings.
Compare prices of retaining wall types
Which retaining wall type is the most economical to build? We have written a free guide on retaining wall price comparisons. The guide details the different types of retaining walls and gives you a price estimate of each type to compare.

The design of a retaining wall requires knowledge of the retaining material, the water table, the ground bearing capacity and any site constraints. The design requires a ground investigation and a structural engineer to ensure the design is fit for purpose.
We offer a full design service from carrying out the ground investigation to final working drawings.
